Activity – (Understanding Percent Problems)

Instructions

Step 1: To start the activity, pull the red and green sliders to the left. Look at the display below to see the three ways to present percent problems.

Step 2: Click on an empty space to deselect.

Step 3: Click on the red slider to select it.

Step 4: Use the forward arrow key on your keyboard to gradually advance the slider a couple of strokes. Answer question 1 below.

Step 5: Pull the red slider back to the left.

Step 6: Click on an empty space to deselect.

Step 7: Click and drag the green slider to the 100% mark.

Step 8: Click again on an empty space to deselect.

Step 9: Click on the red slider again to select it.

Step 10: Use the forward arrow key on your keyboard to gradually advance the slider a couple of strokes. Answer question 2 below.

Step 11: Use the sliders to chose different values for number and percent to see the different displays.
